Every picture tells a story, whether intentionally or not. In my work, I strive to be intentional about the stories I tell, whether I’m working a more obviously narrative format, such as comics and graphic novels, or depicting a moment through the details of a single illustration or design. I work with a heavy mix of traditional and digital media, often starting images with pencil and ink, and coloring them digitally in Photoshop. My visual influences include both western and eastern comics and animation, as well as earlier influences ranging from medieval European sequential art to Asian prints from the 1800s. Equally important is the creative inspiration I draw from science fiction and fantasy literature, both in primarily text narratives and in comics, which fire my imagination and lead me to picture different ways of representing things. As human beings, we identify with and are shaped by the narratives that impact us. I hope to have a positive impact on those who come in contact with my work and the stories I tell.
